What is Prometheus?
The Prometheus Research Team was formed in late 2006 by Dr Andrew
Campbell in order to create a research focused community in the
Faculty of Health Sciences for Postgraduate Students supervised by
Dr Campbell in the field of Lifespan Psychology, Mental Health and
Technology.
Why the name Prometheus?
In Greek Mythology Prometheus (Ancient Greek,
Προμηθεύς,
meaning: "forethought") is the Titan chiefly honored for stealing
fire from the Gods in the stalk of a fennel plant and giving
it to mortals for their use. To this day, the term promethean
refers to events or people of great creativity, intellect and
boldness. The team members of Prometheus hope
to use these qualities in their research in order to benefit
society.
What are the goals of Prometheus?
The
research goals for Prometheus are aimed at improving behavioural
health across the lifespan through the use of cutting edge
technology such as the Internet and multimedia, as well as drawing
from established contemporary scientific and clinical practices in
psychology and mental health. It is also the priority of Prometheus
to cultivate and mentor Post Graduate student researchers at The
University of Sydney in order to serve societies health needs
through research excellence and applied 'best-practice' programs in
mental health. To learn more about the current research being
